The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday requested mayors of Northern Lima districts to make their utmost efforts in order to ensure that the rules and protocols against COVID-19 are complied with during the year-end holidays.

"The holidays are coming; I understand the limitations and problems, but I would request you to make a special effort with the residents of the districts under your administration, so that they respect the rules and protocols," he expressed.

"It will be difficult, many of you do not rely on the necessary number of inspectors, but you would have to make a great effort to avoid crowds that would (otherwise) lead us to contagion," he told local authorities.

Furthermore, the top official suggested that burgomasters jointly develop, promote, and present investment projects —especially in terms of transport infrastructure.

The statesman also pledged to receive the files and transfer their requests, so that they are promptly addressed.

Remarks were made during a meeting with mayors of the Northern Lima Municipal Association.
