The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday called on legislators to come together throughout the country in order to identify the needs of the population.

In an interview with TV Peru, the Head of State emphasized that a group of parliamentarians presented a presidential impeachment motion —a motion on their agenda— during the presentation of the Ministerial Cabinet, which took place on Tuesday.

"I call on them to travel, to come together throughout the country. Do not get pigeonholed in Parliament, go where the country's urgent needs are," he stated.

The top official thanked the parliamentarians who granted their confidence vote to the Ministerial Cabinet, noting that this shows they love Peru and are responsible people.

However, he said, "there are legislators who are pursuing different goals," thus calling on them to come together and address the different realities existing in the country.

"It is necessary to undertake joint actions. Working from our seats is one thing and reaching out to the areas where major needs are is another," the dignitary pointed out.

Mr. Castillo affirmed that the Government has a responsible attitude and, together with the Prime Minister, he will put the main national problems on the agenda.

"The people have elected us to respond, to provide schools, health, and food," he said.

Remarks were delivered after participating in the inauguration of refurbished Educational Institution No. 20158 Dos de Mayo located in Mala district, Cañete province.
