The
on Wednesday called on the recently-elected regional/local authorities and Congress to work jointly so as to prioritize public works in favor of health.
Mr. Castillo participated in the inauguration of the expansion of Tambo Viejo Maternal and Child Center in Lima's Cieneguilla district.
At the event, the Head of State specified that his administration's job is to bring health (services), as a constitutional right, closer to the entire population.
"From here, I call on the new authorities to take a real look and turn public works into a serious and responsible priority, prioritizing health," he expressed.
Similarly, the top official indicated that he would like to walk through the neediest areas with the spokespeople for parliamentary groups, in order to attend to the population in terms of health services.
"Within this framework, we are also sure that we must be respectful not only of the democratic act, but of the State that must be balanced; it cannot be said that only I have constitutional power, or from the Government, but to focus on the population," he added.
Moreover, Mr. Castillo highlighted the work carried out for the expansion of the maternal and child center. He indicated that it is an example of joint efforts undertaken by the three government levels —an experience that should be replicated in every corner of the country.
