The
on Tuesday called for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, considering that its repercussions are harmful to the world.
The Head of State assured attendees that no country wants more wars, crises, or famine, but progress, justice, and equality to shape a more sustainable world.
"There is no way to build a more just and equitable society while conflicts and wars harass the world, especially harming developing countries and the poorest ones," he emphasized.
The top official said history has shown that wars have only caused pain, death, and suffering to the most vulnerable populations. Thus, he urged authorities to work tirelessly in favor of peace, security, and stability.
"Only this way can we generate conditions that allow the growth and development of our peoples," he remarked.
Furthermore, President Castillo called on authorities not to neglect Resolution No. 1325 of the
United Nations Security Council so as to guarantee the participation of women in security policies across the region.
"We want to guarantee their participation in equal conditions and that they make decisions related to the fight for their protection and peace," he indicated.
Moreover, Mr. Castillo highlighted Peru's firm commitment to continue articulating sustainable development under ideals and principles which are also governed by the
United Nations. Peru is one of its 51 founding members.
"Since the creation of the UN, in 1945, Peru has been actively participating in the purposes of the
United Nations on various Sustainable Development Goals, including: zero hunger, quality education, access to water, reduction of inequalities, among others," he expressed.
