Peru's President opens Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Peacekeeping Operations

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday inaugurated the First Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Peacekeeping Operations, which is held in the Peruvian capital, Lima.

The conference is designed to promote greater participation of Latin American and Caribbean countries in peacekeeping operations in a bid to generate spaces for the exchange of experiences.

The meeting will discuss best practices in the deployment of personnel and equipment during the aforementioned operations.

It will serve to update training capabilities, including new developments and better technology to strengthen conflict analysis and monitoring.

The event also featured Defense Minister Richard Tineo Quispe, Foreign Affairs Minister Miguel Rodriguez Mackay, and United Nations Military Adviser and Assistant Secretary-General Birame Diop.

The conference began at 8:30 a.m. (local time) and takes place at Swissotel hotel in San Isidro district.
