The session's main purpose is to present the Government's achievements and the need to continue preventive measures against El Niño phenomenon, ensure economic stability, and implement new territorial governance models.
During his remarks, the Head of State highlighted the importance of the National Agreement and underscored that no political party can afford to ignore this forum, which looks ahead to the country's future.
"This is a meeting of cultural significance and of great political, economic, religious, and social importance because, I believe, we are at a point where we must restore a credible democracy," Balcazar stated.
The president also took the opportunity to recognize the work of National Agreement Executive Secretary Max Hernandez and pay tribute to him.
In that regard, the top official said inclusive economies are those that ensure the continuity of strong democratic institutions.
"If there is no inclusive economy, we cannot expect institutions to function, which, in our case, would include the branches of government, the entire public administration, the economy, society as a whole, and civil society. None of that will work," Balcazar indicated.
"Therefore, it is essential that we respect and truly build strong institutions," he underscored.
The Head of State reiterated the need to shift away from the extractive economic model, which—he emphasized—does not guarantee the future of strong institutions.
The president is accompanied by Cabinet Chief Luis Arroyo, Cabinet ministers, regional governors, newly-elected legislators, representatives of organizations involved in disaster risk management, among others.
