Peru: Mining investment exceeds US$3.304 billion in 1H 2026, up 42.7%

Mining investment totaled US$3.304 billion between January and June this year, marking a 42.7% increase from the same period in 2025, when it amounted to US$2.3152 billion, according to figures from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).

In June alone, mining investment totaled US$662.1 million, 39.1% higher than the amount recorded in the same month of 2025, when it reached US$476 million.

At the regional level, mining investment was highest in Arequipa, Ica, Moquegua, and Ancash, which together accounted for 50.4% of the national total.

Arequipa led with US$535.4 million (16.2% of the total), followed by Ica (US$466.3 million; 14.1%), Moquegua (US$341.1 million; 10.3%), and Ancash (US$321.1 million; 9.7%).

Regarding the breakdown by company, investments by Southern Peru stood out (US$432.7 million; +101.1%), followed by Shougang Hierro Peru (US$314.4 million; +135.4%), Las Bambas (US$275.5 million; +50.5%), Antamina (US$271.6 million; +31.2%), Buenaventura (US$174.2 million; +2.4%), and Cerro Verde (US$169.3 million; +3.8%).

Infrastructure

Investment in Infrastructure reached US$927.3 million in the first half of the year, marking an 82.9% increase from the same period in 2025.

Likewise, investment in Development and Preparation totaled US$704.9 million, 105.1% higher than the US$343.6 million recorded between January and June 2025.

Meanwhile, investment in Processing Plants reached US$566.5 million (+15.5%), while the Other activities category totaled US$395.6 million (+59.9%).

For its part, investment in Exploration reached US$336.5 million, up 1.3% from the first half of 2025.

At the same time, investment in Mining Equipment totaled US$373.6 million between January and June, 5.2% lower than in the same period of the previous year.
