Peru President addresses UN General Assembly

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra delivers a speech at the Plenary Meeting of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly currently underway in New York City.

Peru's top official takes the stage along with other world leaders on the second day of official activities.

The Head of State is joined by Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio and other members of the Peruvian delegation.

36 Heads of State and Government —including President Vizcarra— address the General Assembly Tuesday, on the first day of the General Debate.

The annual General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly is the occasion for world leaders to gather at UN Headquarters to discuss global issues.

This year's edition will be held from September 25 to October 1, 2018.

The theme this year is "Making the United Nations Relevant to All People: Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Peaceful, Equitable and Sustainable Societies," the same as the 73rd session.
