Peru President: 2019 to be a better year, democracy to be strengthened

09:55 | Lima, Dec. 31.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday said 2019 will be better than 2018 as the fight against corruption, economic growth, and democracy will be strengthened.

The Commander-in-Chief affirmed foundations for the fight against corruption were laid throughout 2018 and, from now on, economic growth will generate well-being for more Peruvian citizens.

"I'm confident 2019 will be much better. This year wasn't bad because we laid the foundations for the fight against corruption, but 2019 will be the year in which democracy, the fight against corruption, and economic growth —which generates well-being for all Peruvians— will be strengthened," he told RPP radio and TV news station.
