on Thursday visited police agents at the institution’s hospital in Lima.
They were injured during demonstrations in downtown Lima last night.
The new Cabinet chief spoke with the hospital director, received a report on the condition of the police members, and then left the medical center.
According to Peruvian National Police (PNP) Ombudsman's Office Director General Maximo Ramirez, 84 agents were injured during the protests in Lima, 22 of whom remain hospitalized at the institution’s central healthcare facility.
Ramirez stated that police personnel who have been discharged were advised to take medical leave, which —he said— reduces the PNP's operational capacity.
