Prime Minister Salvador del Solar on Wednesday highlighted Peruvian Congress' decision to grant a vote of confidence to his Cabinet over the proposed political reform.

According to him, the reform is aimed at regaining people's trust and achieving corruption-free politics relying on citizen participation, equality for women, and solid political parties.

Lawmakers passed it with 77 votes in favor, 44 against, and three (3) abstentions.

Del Solar's presentation began on Tuesday at 10:00 AM (local time) and was followed by a long debate —which lasted until 9:30 PM and resumed this morning— among legislators at the plenary session.
