Peru: PM leads Multisectoral Commission against Coronavirus meeting

Peruvian Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos leads a meeting of the High Level Multisectoral Commission against Coronavirus to address the latest measures within the framework of the state of emergency.

The meeting sees the participation of Ministers Walter Martos (Defense), Gaston Rodriguez (Interior), Gloria Montenegro (Women-Vulnerable Populations), Edgar Vasquez (Foreign Trade-Tourism), Rocio Barrios (Production), Fabiola Muñoz (Environment), and Gustavo Meza-Cuadra (Foreign Affairs).

Earlier today, President Martin Vizcarra headed a meeting with representatives of various Executive Branch sectors in order to review the actions taken and approve new measures to protect the health of all citizens.

The event took place within the framework of a mandatory social isolation imposed to prevent the COVID-19 from further spreading in the South American country.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the measure was extended thru May 10.

Thursday marks the fifty-third day of mandatory social isolation in Peru.
