Peru: PM leads meeting to coordinate actions against El Niño phenomenon

Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Tuesday led the meeting of the Multisector Task Force, with the purpose of coordinating Executive Branch actions in response to El Niño phenomenon.

Ministers Jorge Chavez Cresta (Defense), Hania Perez de Cuellar (Housing), Paola Lazarte (Transportation), Raul Perez Reyes (Production), and Alex Contreras (Economy) participated in the gathering as well.

Deputy Territorial Governance Minister Paul Caiguaray Perez was also present at the event.

This meeting took place at the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) headquarters in the Peruvian capital, Lima.



According to its Climate Prediction Center, El Niño continued as indicated by above-average sea surface temperatures (SSTs) across the equatorial Pacific Ocean last July.
