Peruvian Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva affirmed it is logical to talk with all parties when it comes to politics.
The President respected
Keiko Fujimori's request of confidentiality, and it was her own decision to make them public.
"(…) There was no pact, nothing to be suspicious of, and no back-room deals," the Prime Minister expressed.
Villanueva agreed it had been a mistake not to publicly acknowledge the two audiences. However, he believes in the
Head of State's transparency.
Concerning his involvement, the Prime Minister admitted that —while he had arranged these meetings— he had not been present at either of them.
The official went on to add Fujimori had asked for a second gathering. Furthermore, he denied the existence of a third one.
Meetings
The first meeting took place in April and was a formal event. The second one was held at the end of June and covered legislative powers, the rejection of the '
gag rule,' as well as the passing of healthy diet rules, Vizcarra informed on Monday.
According to him, such petition would have reduced the Executive's capacity for action. Thus, the statesman declined the request.
During the meeting, Keiko Fujimori also expressed her disagreement with the healthy diet rules and even suggested the Head of State to replace Health Minister Silvia Pessah.
Vizcarra said he had rejected the petition and affirmed his administration intends to protect citizens' health.
