Ninth coronavirus patient dies in Peru

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Wednesday reported two new deaths from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number to nine in Peru.

According to Minsa, the first victim is a 76-year-old Mexican man, who died on March 24, at 8.00 AM, at Antonio Lorena Hospital in Cusco.

He had respiratory failure and comorbidity, as well as diabetes and pre-existing heart diseases.

The second is a 94-year-old man with diabetes, who was admitted to Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital. He had kidney failure and chronic bronchitis.

He was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to COVID-19 infection but died on March 24 at 5:30 PM.

"On behalf of all Peruvians, we express our heartfelt condolences to the relatives at this moment of pain," the ministry said in a statement.
