Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Wednesday announced that vaccination against COVID-19 will be intensified in Peru in order to fully reopen the market and generate economic growth.

Within this framework, the Cabinet chief mentioned the need for the majority of Peruvians to become immunized so as to be protected once all economic activities resume.

"If possible, we will vaccinate citizens 24 hours a day on certain dates. We need the majority of Peruvians to get vaccinated to fully reopen the market because only this way economic growth can be generated and, of course, jobs," he expressed.

Likewise, the high-ranking official announced that the current restrictions imposed by the Government due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be eased not only to reopen the market but also to resume face-to-face classes.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed that in-person classes at Peruvian schools will begin at the end of March.

Moreover, he reminded citizens that the Education Ministry is working hard on the refurbishment of school premises for the benefit of children and youth.

The Cabinet head also announced that it has been agreed with State-run media to encourage and recommend the vaccination of children, parents, and teachers so that difficulties do not occur when returning to classes.

Remarks were made during a press conference following the Council of Ministers session.
