The Peruvian government has announced that Walter Alban Peralta will be the country's new interior minister.
He replaces Wilfredo Pedraza, who resigned last week, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers has reported
Alban headed the Ombudsman's Office between 2000 and 2005 after serving as first Deputy-Ombudsman from 1996 to 2000, under the leadership of Jorge Santisteban de Noriega.
He was appointed as Peru's Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington at the end of 2011.
On Oct. 01, 2013, Alban took over the chair of OAS' Permanent Council, on behalf of the Peruvian State.
