Peru: PCM presents progress in public integrity to ensure clean public procurement

09:42 | Hong Kong (China), Jun. 18.

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), through its Public Integrity Secretariat, highlighted Peru's progress in strengthening transparency and accountability in public procurement processes.

The statement was made during Peruvian participation in an international working session held in Hong Kong, China, as part of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

The event, titled Promoting Integrity for Economic Prosperity, brought together representatives from APEC member economies, international organizations, and specialized institutions.

Participants exchanged experiences on the role of integrity in fostering economic progress and improving people's well-being.

During the meeting, the PCM secretariat also reported that it is working on the development of guidelines for the implementation of multi-stakeholder oversight mechanisms in procurement processes, within the framework of the Integrity Pacts established under the General Public Procurement Law.

In this regard, the potential of these mechanisms was underscored, given the aim of securing the participation of the private sector, civil society, academia, and the public sector to prevent corruption risks, strengthen trust, and contribute to more efficient public management.

Specialized forum

It should be noted that these guidelines are part of the commitments established in the Open Government Action Plan 2026-2027, approved through Supreme Decree No. 151-2025-PCM.

The activity was held within the framework of APEC's Anti-Corruption and Transparency Experts Working Group, a specialized forum that fosters cooperation among member economies to strengthen transparency, public integrity, and the fight against corruption.

Peru's participation in this forum made it possible to exchange experiences and best practices with other Asia-Pacific economies.

This effort reaffirms the importance of international cooperation in boosting integrity policies that contribute to economic growth, public value creation, and citizens' well-being.
