Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that, to date, a total of 7,354,735 vulnerable households across the country have been benefited from a S/760 (US$223) grant.
"In addition, the
Development and Social Inclusion Ministry programs have been enhanced. Putting all this together, the investment to support vulnerable families entails S/6.49 billion (US$1.83 billion)," he announced at a press conference.
"All these programs required an investment of S/4 billion (around US$1.12 billion)," he said.
The Head of State affirmed that, together, the initiatives totaled more than S/14 billion (around US$3.94 billion) in investment.
"We are making a great effort. We recorded S/30 billion (around US$8.45 billion) less revenue this year and we must increase spending by S/14 billion (US$3.94 billion) to address the health needs, vulnerable families and all the programs that we have enhanced," he pointed out.
The top official explained that the economy had to be revived with some programs that were not included in the initial 2020 budget in order to provide this support for families.
"Thus, we launched the
Arranca Peru (Get off the Ground, Peru) Program for the maintenance of over 5,000 kilometers of roads in all provinces across the country. There is not a single province in Peru without a road maintenance program," he added.
