Peru's non-traditional exports increased 25.8% in February 2018 over the same month last year, thus registering the highest growth rate in the last eight months, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported.

It must be noted this result marked 16 straight months of growth.

Likewise, this expansion was driven by higher shipments of farming (+25.4%), textile (+10.8%), fishing (+48.3%), and chemical (+22.8%), as well as iron-steel products (+15.5%).

However, exports from non-metallic mining sector decreased 4.7%.

According to INEI, farming products' export volume saw an increase mainly explained by higher sales of mangoes and mangosteens (37.4%), Cavendish bananas (25.3%), avocados (143.1%), and paprika (31.5%).
