President Martin Vizcarra on Saturday administered the oath to Congressman Vicente Zeballos, who has become the new Justice and Human Rights Minister of Peru.
He will thus replace
Salvador Heresi, who decided to step down from the post on July 13.
As is known, the Head of State requested
Heresi his resignation letter after an audio recording —containing a conversation between the lawyer and
disgraced Supreme Judge Cesar Hinostroza— was released.
Sworn in on April 2, the former minister was part of the new administration led by President Vizcarra, who took office on March 23.
Today's swearing-in ceremony was held at Lima-based Government Palace's Golden Hall.
