The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday afternoon administered the oath of office to Victor Manuel Torres Falcon, who has become the new Minister of Interior in Peru.

Thus, Torres Falcon replaces Vicente Romero Fernandez in the post, who stepped down after being censured by Congress last week.

Torres Falcon is a retired Peruvian National Police (PNP) general. He also held different positions within the institution.

The new minister served as head of Ica Police Region and of the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM) Police Front.

In addition, Torres Falcon had served as director of Police Education and Doctrine, as well as director of Institutional Management.

In 2014, he was named Chief of Staff at the PNP —the second highest position within the institution.

Today's event took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
