Peru: Ministers oversee humanitarian aid arrival in Piura

13:59 | Piura (Piura region), Feb. 27.

Joined by cabinet members, Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva on Wednesday supervised the arrival of humanitarian aid for the citizens recently affected by heavy rains in Peru's northern areas.

"We have every precaution ready to assist the victims," the high-ranking official expressed.

Likewise, the cabinet chief noted the Government's concern to address this emergency. Thus, each minister currently coordinates with regional and local authorities to assist the most vulnerable populations.

Furthermore, the prime minister affirmed the Executive Branch works hard to attend the emergency. For that reason, the multi-purpose ship BAP Pisco brought 800 tons of humanitarian aid from Lima. It consisted of machinery, tools, medicines, physicians, and food.

He went on to add climate monitoring continues in the country's northern regions, and Piura's situation will normalize progressively, as the alert went from red to yellow.

Moreover, the cabinet chief stressed the Government is prepared to cover what is required, in case new emergencies arise.

Remarks were made from Paita Port where the BAP Pisco anchored.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Villanueva was joined by Ministers Zulema Tomas (Health) and Gustavo Mostajo (Agriculture), as well as Authority for Reconstruction with Changes Chief Edgar Quispe.
