Defense Minister Jose Huerta has affirmed the Peruvian Government will continue opting for dialogue in order to find a solution to Las Bambas mining project conflict.
"
We will keep favoring dialogue because we believe we must avoid violence in the country. We have lived many years of violence among Peruvians," he told Canal N news channel.
In this sense, the Government seeks to know the solutions proposed by all the parts involved with the purpose of agreeing on one.
"
The first proposal is dialogue. To the area's communities, I tell you, it is not necessary to reach extremes and commit violent acts (…)," he stressed.
Likewise, Huerta reaffirmed the Peruvian Government's proposition to lift the emergency state in the zone in exchange for the Fuerabamba community to remove the blockade.
The issue
As is known, members of the Fuerabamba community blocked a roadway corridor in Cusco region that is used by Las Bambas to transport its copper production to Matarani Port.
It should be noted only the mining company's vehicles are forbidden to transit. Fuerabamba community demands Las Bambas to pay compensation for the use of the lands.
Last week,
Minister Edmer Trujillo ratified the Government's willingness to continue paying for the lands that comprise the Inca country's road infrastructure, referring to the road that passes through the Yavi Yavi estate.
