The
Ministry of Interior (Mininter) has decided to increase to S/30,000 (about US$7,655) the reward for any information leading to the location or subsequent arrest of Fray Vasquez Castillo —a fugitive from justice.
Vasquez Castillo was included in the Mininter's
Rewards Program on March 31 this year, with an initial reward of S/ 15,000 (around US$3,836).
The decision to double the amount was adopted in a recent session of the Rewards for Criminals Assessment Commission (CERCRI) of the Ministry of Interior.
Fray Vasquez is investigated for the crimes of criminal organization, aggravated collusion, use of a false document, false statement in an administrative proceeding, and influence peddling.
The Ministry of Interior said that a similar situation occurred in the case of
former Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Bruno Pacheco, who had been on the list since that day, but was later removed after he surrendered to justice. The program had offered S/30,000 (about US$7,655) for him —a reward that was even doubled to S/60,000 (about US$15,345).
Both rewards were increased under the leadership of
Minister Willy Huerta, in a bid to intensify the search and to promote citizen collaboration in this regard.
