During a ceremony at the Public Ministry for National Holidays, the magistrate affirmed that it is one of the first results within the framework of the fight against corruption initiated by said institution.
Likewise, Benavides affirmed that the necessary proceedings continue being carried out to clarify the acts, adding that her office will soon report the result of this work.
In this sense, she called on the other citizens under investigation to collaborate with justice.
In a public statement, the magistrate asserted that there are no untouchable officials, as she reiterated her relentless fight against corruption.
"We, Peruvians, deserve a country free of corrupt people, a country of honest officials who represent the law, who serve the State and do not use it (for their own purposes)," she said in her speech.
Moreover, the Attorney General affirmed that her portfolio has been working very hard, since the first day of her administration, to live up to the expectations that Peruvians have of said institution, which is of essential importance for the rule of law.
"We are not motivated by political, media, or economic interests or pressures. We are merely motivated by the satisfaction of the duty fulfilled within the framework of the functions that the Constitution has granted us," she said.
Bruno Pacheco is being investigated for the alleged commission of the crime of aggravated collusion in a criminal organization in the Provías-Puente Tarata (Tarata Bridge) Case.
Last April, the Second Preparatory Investigation Court ordered 36 months of preventive detention against the former government official for allegedly having committed the crime of aggravated collusion in a criminal organization in the Provías-Puente Tarata Case.
