Peru: Mining, hydrocarbon sector rose 4.15% in August 2019

Peruvian mining and hydrocarbon sector's production expanded 4.15% in August 2019, underpinned by the hydrocarbon sub-sector (+38.20%), National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed Tuesday.

However, the metallic mining sub-sector decreased 0.35%. 

It should be noted the hydrocarbon segment recorded the highest rise so far this year in August.

It was boosted by a greater production of natural gas (+58.2%), natural gas liquids (+34.7%), and crude oil (+27.7%). 

Farming sector 

On the other hand, the farming sector grew 2.15%, driven by the agricultural sub-sector (+0.89%). 

Meanwhile, the livestock sub-sector rose 3.66%. 

Fishing segment 

Furthermore, the fishing segment increased 2.30%, underpinned by greater catches of species destined for indirect human consumption (+153.62%).

Nevertheless, landings of species destined for direct human consumption decreased 1.80%.
