Peruvian and Malaysian trade organizations on Monday entered into two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) as part of the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s economic and trade promotion international efforts.
One of the MoUs was signed between the Small and Medium Enterprises International Trade Association of Malaysia (
SMITA) and the Association of Peruvian Exporters (ADEX). The other agreement engages SMITA and State-run
Sierra y Selva Exportadora exports program.
Sierra y Selva Exportadora is designed to promote economic activities —originated in Peru's Andes and jungle areas— that allow growers to attach themselves to national and international markets.
SMITA President Megane Soo inked the MoUs on behalf of the Malaysian party during a ceremony held at the residence of the Peruvian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The signing was witnessed by Peruvian Ambassador to Malaysia H.E. Guido Loayza.
The activity also saw the presence of top SMITA members, as well as Mexico's Ambassador to Malaysia and Colombia's Charge d'affaires.
The agreements, which mark a new route in Peru and Malaysia's trade ties, have been well received by the Asian nation.
Furthermore, SMITA executives have confirmed a visit to the Inca country in September to attend Expoalimentaria 2017 food fair and forge closer ties with Peruvian MoU parties.
Signing of the MoUs was made possible by the Peruvian Embassy in Malaysia, as well as ADEX and Sierra y Selva Exportadora.
