announced on Monday that Luis Galarreta will serve as Prime Minister in her administration, which takes office on July 28.
Fujimori said that, under Peru's constitutional system, the Prime Minister is tasked with leading and articulating the entire Cabinet's work, coordinating government action, and building consensus.
"That is why this role requires far greater experience, leadership, management skills, balance to overcome challenges, and a deep commitment to public service. With this conviction, I have invited Luis Galarreta Velarde to assume this responsibility," she indicated.
Likewise, Fujimori noted that positions allow people to demonstrate their abilities, but difficulties "reveal their character."
"I have had the privilege of knowing both facets of Lucho (Galarreta). He knows the (Peruvian) State and has dedicated much of his life to public service. He has served as Chairman of Congress, as well as a congressman and an Andean parliamentarian, and he knows that governing requires decisions, but also dialogue, firmness, and the ability to reach agreements," she indicated.
The president-elect underscored that, above and beyond his career, there is the person, describing Luis Galarreta as "a loyal, hardworking man who is deeply committed to the country."
"A man who has never allowed adversity to bend his convictions or his will to serve, who will now lead a united Cabinet that works with the sense of urgency the public expects, and whose administration will be measured by all the results it delivers to Peruvians," Fujimori said.
"Luis Galarreta will have my trust and support, but also my demands, because Peruvians expect results," she added.
The president-elect stated they will exercise their responsibility to appoint the remaining members of the Cabinet "thinking only of Peru and the need to assemble a team capable of addressing the enormous challenges facing our country."
The future Ministers of Economy and Finance, Elmer Cuba, and Foreign Affairs, Carlos Espá, were introduced during the news conference as well.
She added that the remaining positions will be announced on Tuesday.
