Peru: Judicial Branch elects new Chairman

14:09 | Lima, Jul. 25.

Supreme Judge Victor Prado was elected new President of the Judicial Power on Wednesday.

He will thus succeed Judge Francisco Tavara, who had temporarily replaced former Chairman Duberli Rodriguez in the post.

As is known, 68-year-old Rodriguez stepped down last week amid a crisis in the justice system, which led the Executive Branch to start designing a comprehensive reform of the Judiciary.

It must be noted Prado, 59, will take office thru December 31, 2018.
