Peru continues to captivate travelers from all over the world. That's why it appears, in a commendable seventh place and as the only Latin American representative, on a list of the 21 most beautiful countries in the world, compiled by the prestigious international magazine Architectural Digest.
Why did this publication choose Peru for this select list and what aspects highlight?
In an article titled "The 21 Most Beautiful Countries in the World," the American magazine Architectural Digest highlights that, globally, Peru captivates tourists worldwide thanks to the beauty of its natural landscapes and emblematic sites such as the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu, the ultimate expression of Inca architecture and engineering. Also because of its fascinating Sacred Valley of the Incas, both located in the department of Cusco.
Machu Picchu, Peru's flagship tourist attraction, a World Heritage Site and a world wonder, radiates a powerful attraction to travelers from around the world and motivates them to return more than once.
They come back to appreciate not only the formidable and unique stone monument built on the summit of a steep mountain, but also the splendid natural landscape, a hinge between the Andes and the Amazon, that surrounds it.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas captivates those who explore and get marveled at its incomparable geography, full of fertile farmland irrigated by the Vilcanota River and guarded by imposing mountains and snow-capped peaks.
Similarly, visitors are captivated by the impressive archaeological sites, such as Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, and Moray, which bear witness to the grandeur of the Inca empire.
The travelers interested in experiential tourism delights the enormous cultural wealth treasured by the communities that inhabit this beautiful Andean landscape, which they generously share with their guests.
The publication also highlights other Peruvian attractions such as the Seven Colored or Rainbow Mountains, also located in the department of Cusco, which invite you to experience their dazzling beauty, as well as the charm of Lima, the capital of Peru.

The list of the 21 most beautiful countries in the world, according to Architectural Digest, ranks in first place to Greece, and three other Latin American countries are on the list: Mexico, in 14th place; Costa Rica in 18th place; and Chile, in 21st place, rounding out the list.

“What constitutes the most beautiful countries in the world depends, of course, on the observer. But we're confident that the ancient architecture, jungle waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, and shimmering caverns on this list will be more than appealing to most,” notes Amelia Mularz, author of the article published by Architectural Digest.
“So consider it an anthology of major architectural attractions, a compendium of cultural wonders, and a short list of the planet's most breathtaking natural landscapes. Read it as a 'where's the place to travel' and add each destination to your personal bucket list, or simply appreciate these beautiful places for all they offer,” Murlaz points out.
