The Ministry of Health (Minsa) recommends that the Government extend the social confinement during the state of national emergency in order to contain the risk of contagion of the
novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Peru, the sector head Victor Zamora affirmed on Thursday.
"Our recommendation is to prolong the
confinement because we have reason to affirm this from a health point of view," he said in remarks to America TV news show.
The government official stated that the Government is doing every effort to prepare the Health Ministry and the health system in general.
"We have summoned former health ministers, ex-deputy ministers, as well as experts from different fields, such as epidemiology, infectiology, sociology, and anthropology," Zamora noted.
"We have put a high complexity health center such as the Ate Hospital into operation, exclusively for the treatment of coronavirus patients, and we are about to launch a specially adapted hospital at the Pan American Village towers," he expressed.
"Our mission at this moment is to take care of our caretakers. We greatly appreciate your work and we are going to redouble our efforts so that you can work under conditions of safety. Thank you very much," he concluded.
