The health sector must enhance the capacity at primary care sites so that people who go to these establishments can find the care they need as well as adequate equipment, and we can have a healthier society,
Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti said on Tuesday.
During the teletraining "Change and Transformation of the Health Sector," held this morning, Mazzetti affirmed that the new health policy for 2030 is of particular importance amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which is getting worse again in the country.
Even though patients during the first wave were treated at the third care level and the primary care level was not available, the most important thing now is to avoid contagion among people and, if they have already been infected, provide them with primary care to prevent cases from becoming more serious.
"Regarding benefits, let us be vigilant so that primary care locations have everything they need to offer timely and comprehensive care to patients," the minister asked healthcare workers.
"Please, verify that the equipment sent by the
Ministry of Health (Minsa) —in order to supply the primary care centers— has arrived and that they are able to offer timely as well as quality care," she added.
Additionally, the government official remarked that the main pillar of the health system's transformation is the universal health coverage.
"This coverage must be real, and it is the responsibility of the health personnel —in all sub-sectors— to try to ensure that the entire population has access to health care," she pointed out.
