The
Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) has declared a national green alert at its 409 health facilities throughout the country in order to handle any possible emergencies that may arise during Christmas and New Year holidays.
The measure —which will be in force from 12:00 a.m. on December 24, 2021 to 12:00 a.m. on January 3, 2022— aims to coordinate preparation and response actions of 30 EsSalud health networks nationwide.
Thus, healthcare staff will be prepared for potential unforeseen events, especially in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Burn Unit, Delivery Room, Surgical Center, Blood Bank, among other critical areas.
Every EsSalud health network has a contingency plan, which includes healthcare personnel, medications, ambulances, availability of beds, and other resources necessary to guarantee health care.
EsSalud, through its Central Operations Management, will monitor health establishments on a permanent basis and will report on emergency situations, disasters or events of imminent danger that affect the life and health of the population and the infrastructure of healthcare centers.
