Peru Gov't works with regions to ensure proper implementation of 2020 budget

16:50 | Lima, Jan. 3.

The Peruvian Government, through the Ministry of Economy and Finance, is working closely with regions across the country to ensure proper implementation of the 2020 budget, Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra affirmed on Friday.

"We have held an important meeting at the Economy and Finance Ministry headquarters with regional governors, with whom we are working in close coordination to ensure a proper budgetary implementation since the beginning of the year," he expressed.

After attending the swearing-in ceremony of magistrate Marianella Ledesma as Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court (TC) of Peru, the Head of State underscored that ministries —as a group— executed around 76% of the 2019 budget.

Mr. Vizcarra affirmed that the goal is to achieve greater budgetary execution this year.

"That is why we are not waiting until the middle or last quarter of the year, but we are coordinating with regional governments since today, the second day of the year. Besides, we will do the same with ministries on Monday and with municipalities next week. There are necessary works that cannot continue to be postponed," he commented.

On the other hand, the Peruvian leader reiterated his call for citizens to cast informed votes.

"To do so, I am convinced that the population is going to review and analyze the different proposals made by political parties through their candidates, and will choose the best ones, using the civic maturity they have reached," he added.
