Energy and Mines Minister Jaime Galvez and Deputy Benefits-Health Insurance Minister Bernardo Ostos on Friday received a mobile gaseous oxygen generating plant that will contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in Peru.

The unit —donated by Southern Peru company to the Ministry of Health (Minsa)— relies on a capacity to generate 720 cubic meters of oxygen per day, with which at least 60 10-cubic-meter cylinders can be filled on a daily basis.

Minister Galvez stressed that this new donation is the outcome of the corporation's strong social commitment and close coordination with the Government in the efforts towards saving lives during one of the worst health crises in our history.

The equipment contains two oxygen generators, an air compressor, tanks, filters, a refrigerator-type air dryer, an oxygen compressor, among other implements distributed in a mobile container that will facilitate its transfer to the locations where the resource is highly needed.

In the coming days, the company will grant the State a second mobile unit to be added to the previous donations, among which the delivery of 20 tons of medical oxygen per day stands out.

As is known, mining-energy sector companies —for the current quarter— have pledged to donate 21 plants, three (3) concentrators, and 1,000 tons of oxygen that will contribute to the care of COVID-19 patients.
