The Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) is expanding the coverage of social programs to tackle the increase in poverty, said the sector's head Patricia Donayre.

"Midis has to strengthen social programs, and further investment in them is being made to that end. Juntos is going to benefit 1.1 million households, which represents a 64% increase in coverage. Likewise, Cuna Mas increases its coverage by 66% and Contigo's beneficiary base will expand from 40,000 to 75,000 users," the minister stated.

Additionally, Donayre noted that her administration is working to monitor the health of Pension 65 users.

"We are working so that people can feel the State's presence, by trying to reach everyone," the government official emphasized.

On the other hand, she reported that Midis has decided to include Amazon women in the Noa Jayati (Let's Grow) Project of the Cooperation Fund for Social Development (Foncodes), so that they can be trained in productive activities for achieving food security and economic empowerment.

"Thanks to the Noa Jayatai Project for Women, female users in jungle communities will be able to broaden their knowledge on production as well as improve their income," she explained.

The Noa Jayatai Project for Women will be implemented —for a year and on a pilot basis— in the districts of Mazan, Jeberos and Barranca (Loreto region). It will benefit 1,200 women and then will extend to all indigenous communities throughout the country.
