Peru: Gov't authorizes transfer of over US$30 million for COVID-19 vaccine purchase

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) has authorized a transfer of resources from the Public Sector Budget for Fiscal Year 2022 for up to S/121.954 million (US$31.272 million) in favor of the Health Ministry (Minsa) to finance the purchase of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 and other expenses related to their acquisition.

According to Supreme Decree No. 002-2022-EF, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano, the transfer comes in response to the request by Minsa for the acquisition of vaccines and to effectively continue with the immunization process involving the Peruvian population.

The transfer will be made effective with a charge to resources from the Economy and Finance Ministry's Contingency Reserve.
