Peru: Government to start visiting regions soon

14:27 | Lima, Nov. 7.

President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday announced his administration will start visiting each Peruvian region on November 8.

This initiative is aimed at holding meetings with recently-elected authorities and developing a joint strategy in order to achieve national progress.

Furthermore, the Head of State indicated this tour will last one month.

"We will travel to all regions until mid-December. We will hold this same gathering but in your regions," the top official told the 120 elected mayors from the most in-need provinces and districts.

According to the statesman, Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva will establish a schedule with the purpose of specifying where and when these audiences will take place across the country.

Thus, the Executive Branch will be able to meet and coordinate directly with each authority in their corresponding regions

"The work is not easy; it is complex. However, if we do this together, ministries, regional governments, and mayors, then I'm sure we can find a way to meet the population's needs," he added.

Remarks were made at the Government Palace.
