The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, stated that the Government is taking the necessary actions to guarantee transparency in the runoff election, adding that everything is on track for the vote to be held in accordance with the law.

The Head of State made these remarks during the promulgation of the legislation amending Article 65 of the Organic Elections Law to establish the use of public and private schools and universities for the installation of polling tables.

"Everything is on track for the elections to be held in accordance with the law," Balcazar said.

Likewise, the top official said the Executive Branch is fully complying with constitutional mandates in order to guarantee transparency in the runoff election scheduled for June 7.

"The bill recently sent by Congress amends the Organic Elections Law so that all public and private institutions are required to provide the necessary support for the National Elections Board (JNE) to fully carry out its duties and guarantee a runoff election without any setbacks or inconveniences," he said.

Moreover, the President indicated that, under the bill, public and private venues in every sector are required to comply with this provision or face fines.

The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima on Friday.

On this occasion, the President was accompanied by Cabinet Chief Luis Arroyo, Economy and Finance Minister Rodolfo Acuña, and Ombudsman Josue Gutierrez.
