Peru: Government officializes designation of new Health Minister

The Peruvian Government has made official the appointment of Kelly Portalatino as Minister of Health —via a supreme resolution published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Friday.

Similarly, it accepted the resignation submitted by ex-Minister Jorge Lopez.

The designation of the parliamentarian as head of the ministerial portfolio is stated in Supreme Resolution No. 250-2022-PCM.

Last Thursday, the legislator was sworn in as Health Minister at the Government Palace. The corresponding ceremony was led by President Pedro Castillo.

Said legal provision indicates that the affidavit, containing information about the new Cabinet member, was published on the website of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Resignation

On the other hand, Jorge Lopez's resignation from the Ministry of Health was mentioned in Supreme Resolution No. 249-2022-PCM.

Last weekend, President Pedro Castillo announced via social media the termination of Lopez's appointment as Cabinet member —after the report by an investigative journalism TV program linked the ex-Minister to alleged irregularities.
