In addition to the three contracts already signed for the supply of vaccines against COVID-19, the Peruvian Government is advancing negotiations and talks with seven other laboratories to guarantee the supply of said product for all citizens, Foreign Affairs Minister Elizabeth Astete has reported.

In the first case, she explained that agreements are about to be reached for 9.9 million vaccines that would be delivered during this year, of which 1.8 million would arrive in the first quarter of 2021.

Two million of them would arrive in the second quarter followed by three million during the following one, said Astete, who stressed that this laboratory's vaccine is only administered in one dose —unlike others which require two.

Furthermore, the Cabinet member pointed out that progress is being made in the negotiations with Moderna to acquire 12 million doses, which would arrive during the course of 2021.

The Executive Branch currently waits for this laboratory to send the corresponding contract next week for evaluation purposes, she indicated.

Moreover, Ambassador Astete mentioned that the Government analyzes the information sent by
Russian laboratory Gamaleya to see the possibility of acquiring their vaccines.

The same occurs with the drug produced by Curevac, from which 13 million doses would be purchased for the second half of 2021.

Besides, talks have been established with China's Sinovac, which has agreed to submit a draft contract for assessment involving seven million vaccines.

The same goes for Novavax lab, which could sell 12 million doses. Six million of them would arrive in the second quarter of 2021, she concluded.
