The Council of Ministers on Wednesday agreed to lift the state of emergency linked to COVID-19 and called on citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect their health.

Via social media, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) announced that this measure will be officialized soon.

"Today, the Council of Ministers agreed to lift the state of emergency linked to COVID-19, thanks to the progress of vaccination and the decrease in cases. All restrictions are lifted. The measure will be made official soon. To those who have not been vaccinated, we urge you to do so," the government agency expressed.

In Peru, state of emergency had been decreed since 2020 due to the presence of the COVID-19 virus. This measure was aimed at safeguarding citizens' lives.

It was also intended to reduce the potential negative impact on the population in situations that might pose high risk or damage to health.
