Fuerza Popular presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori on Thursday reaffirmed her commitment to accepting the proclamation of the runoff election result by the National Elections Board (JNE).

"I reiterate my commitment to accepting the final result and respecting the electoral bodies, just as we have for decades; but it is essential that this information be known," Fujimori said at a press conference.

The candidate referred to the information on the list of voters who participated in the June 6 election, held by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) and the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec).

She argued that the two lists and the expertise commissioned by the party should be considered by the JNE during the review of the appeals regarding the voting records, as well as the appeals for annulment that may be submitted to the electoral body.

Fujimori assured that the appeals filed by Fuerza Popular only seek to uncover the truth and, therefore —she noted— she made a respectful call to the electoral body.

In addition, she urged it not to use the deadlines as a reason to dismiss the requests for annulment of the voting records, adding that the JNE itself extended the period on April 11 and repealed said agreement yesterday.

"We have the right to know the truth and seek a conscious decision from you —the members of the (National Elections) Board— using the necessary information to deliver electoral justice. That is what we want, that is what Peruvians want," she added.
