President-elect Keiko Fujimori met on Tuesday with Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast, with whom she discussed their willingness to jointly address challenges such as the fight against transnational crime, among other issues.

The meeting took place at Torre Tagle Palace, the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters. It was also attended by Foreign Affairs Minister-designate Carlos Espa.

Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast arrived in Peru on Monday to attend Fujimori Higuchi's presidential inauguration ceremony.

"Both authorities expressed their full commitment to further strengthening political dialogue at the highest level and working together to address shared challenges such as transnational organized crime, natural disasters, public transportation, and reforestation," the Peruvian Ministry reported on X.

Fujimori Higuchi will be sworn in as President of the Republic today, Tuesday, July 28, at the Legislative Palace.

She will become the first woman directly elected by popular vote to hold this office.

Binational Cabinets

Later, during a press conference at O'Higgins House on Jiron De la Union, Kast provided further details about his talks with the president-elect, during which they agreed on the importance of restoring Binational Cabinet meetings and business associations.

Kast also indicated he held talks with several visiting heads of state attending the presidential inauguration, including Bolivia's President Rodrigo Paz, Ecuador's Head of State Daniel Noboa, and a delegation representing Colombia's incoming President, Abelardo de la Espriella, describing the meetings as productive.

He said the gatherings focused on working together on security, economic integration, and humanitarian issues arising from migration in order to strengthen relations among various countries and address these challenges.
