Peru: Fishery sector up 19.68% in September 2018

Peruvian fishery sector's production expanded 19.68% in September 2018, compared to the similar month last year, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed Thursday.

This growth was underpinned by greater catches of species destined for direct human consumption (+21.17%).

Furthermore, the unloading of species for frozen (+63.7%), cured (+12.3%), and canned (+3.8%) purposes stood out. 

Meanwhile, fish intended for fresh consumption slid (-5.5%). 

As for marine fishing activities, catches of species for indirect human consumption species (-100%) due to anchovy-related closed season in the Inca country's northern and central regions.
