Peru's First Lady Lilia Paredes on Wednesday welcomed the implementation of a pediatric health citadel aimed at treating childhood cancer in Cusco.

Via Twitter, the wife of President Pedro Castillo pointed out that this infrastructure will benefit minors in the central jungle who suffer from this disease.

"I salute the initiative by Vidawasi Association to implement the first decentralized pediatric health citadel for (treating) childhood cancer, in Cusco region," Mrs. Paredes expressed.

This care center for minors is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It will allow residents in that area and the surroundings to receive a better quality of life.

Vidawasi is a non-profit civil association. The citadel implemented in Cusco is the first of its kind to be set up in Latin America.

This association is chaired by founder Jesus Dongo and its vice-chairman is Carlos Neuhaus.
