Peru’ First Lady, Nadine Heredia, noted the contribution of the Cuna Mas national program to the development of children across the country after opening a child care center in the Pachacutec area of Callao's Ventanilla district.
“It is a great satisfaction because this is one of the most cherished programs for President Ollanta Humala and for the whole government as it focused on the development of our kids,” she underlined.
While visiting the modern center’s premises, Heredia highlighted the work done by mother-caregivers and the progress made by babies and children in the development of skills and nutrition.
“We have also noticed that the cooking area is organized, clean and cooks wear masks and aprons,” she pointed out.
Cuna Mas, she added, helps fight chronic child malnutrition because the program provides very nutritious food and multiple micronutrients.
“Therefore, this is a constant battle the program has to fight in coordination with other programs such as Qali Warma,” Heredia emphasized.
