Peru FA Min to meet Chinese counterpart in Beijing

12:09 | Lima, Nov. 27.

Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during a working visit to the city of Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China.

The meeting will address various bilateral issues in the political, economic, commercial, financial, and cultural fields, among others.

Meza-Cuadra's trip to China —slated for November 27-30— was authorized by supreme resolution No. 211-2019-PCM.

The document bears the signatures of Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos, and the Foreign Affairs Minister himself.

In Beijing, Meza-Cuadra will attend the "Ancient Civilizations Forum," which is of political and cultural importance to Peru, as it gathers several countries of global influence, with which the Andean nation may coordinate international or bilateral initiatives.

Since the forum's first edition in Athens, Peru has expressed its intention to host such event in 2020.

This position was confirmed within the framework of the recent General Assembly of the United Nations, during a meeting of foreign affairs ministers convened by China.

Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva will take over the Foreign Affairs Ministry's office during Meza-Cuadra's absence.
