Foreign Affairs Minister Nestor Popolizio notes the importance of Binational Cabinets between Peru and Bolivia, saying the upcoming edition —scheduled for September 3— will end up producing major agreements and bilateral commitments in various fields.
According to the diplomat, the Binational Cabinets and Presidential Meetings reflect the excellent level of relations that are underpinned by cultural and historical ties between the two nations.
This mechanism represents the highest instance of bilateral political dialogue, through which issues of common concern are revitalized, issues that directly intervene in the welfare of Peruvian and Bolivian citizens, mainly of those in the border region.
The
4th Binational Cabinet will address four thematic axes: environment and water resources; security and defense; economic development, social policies, and institutional strengthening and; infrastructure for integration and development.
With that in mind, the two sides will adopt a series of commitments and are expected to sign agreements of diverse nature.
As is known, Binational Cabinets address a number of matters involving different sectors in the two neighboring countries.
The thematic agenda is vast and includes topics that go beyond the responsibility of one single ministry, incorporating aspects of cross-cutting nature to other sectors and affiliated institutions.
In any case, the ultimate aim of each meeting —under the leadership of their respective Heads of States— is to foster better living conditions in favor of citizens, mainly of the populations in the most vulnerable situations.
